Chennai, June 5:
Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is set to chair the first Cabinet meeting of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government at the State Secretariat today with key governance and policy issues high on the agenda, including preparations for the State Budget.
According to sources, the Cabinet will deliberate on crucial matters such as the State’s liquor policy, the functioning and restructuring of the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (Tasmac), and the release of a White Paper outlining Tamil Nadu’s financial position. The meeting is expected to set the tone for the new administration’s policy direction and fiscal priorities.
A major focus will be on reforms to Tasmac operations. The discussion gains significance in the backdrop of the Chief Minister’s recent directive to shut down 717 liquor outlets located near temples, educational institutions, and other sensitive areas.
