Chennai:
Congress Rajya Sabha candidate Praveen Chakravarty on Friday admitted it was a mistake to describe the CPI and CPM as part of a TVK-led “Tamil Nadu Social Justice Progressive Alliance,” after both parties publicly denied any such association.
The clarification came after Chakravarty met leaders of the Left parties following his nomination filing. CPI state secretary M Veerapandian said Chakravarty acknowledged the error in his social media post.
The controversy stemmed from Chakravarty’s post on X, where he thanked Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay while referring to the alliance. CPM state secretary P. Shanmugam termed the reference “overzealousness.”
