Mexico officially kicked off the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a historic 2-0 victory over South Africa at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. Julián Quiñones opened the scoring in the 9th minute, and veteran Raúl Jiménez secured the win in the second half.
