Chennai, June 12:

Chief Minister Vijay, speaking at the Niti Aayog meeting in New Delhi chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, outlined key demands of the state, stressing cooperative federalism and stronger support for state-led development.

He sought release of pending SSA funds without linking them to NEP or the three-language policy, and reiterated Tamil Nadu’s stand on NEET exemption, saying the exam affects rural and economically weaker students. He also urged the Centre to approve major infrastructure projects, including six key road and rail works and a High-Speed Rail Corridor from Chennai to Kanniyakumari.

Vijay pressed for setting up a second AIIMS in Coimbatore and requested recognition of the proposed Space Manufacturing Hub at Kulasekarapattinam as a national hub to boost India’s space economy.

On welfare and funding, he called for Rs 3,284 crore in pending SSA dues, Rs 2,283 crore for Hogenakkal Phase-III water scheme, and support for extending employment under rural housing schemes through MGNREGA-linked programmes.
