Chennai,  June 12:

Actor-director Raghava Lawrence has indicated that he may step into politics, revealing that recent circumstances have prompted him to consider a move he had never previously planned. However, he has not made any formal declaration, choosing instead to seek the opinion of the public before taking a final call.

In a message shared on X, Lawrence clarified that entering politics was never part of his ambitions. He said his focus had always been on supporting individuals he believed in, rather than pursuing power or financial gain for himself. His intention, he noted, was simply to contribute to society by working alongside the right people.

In a video released to elaborate on his thoughts, Lawrence spoke about how politics gradually became relevant in his life. He reflected on his personal understanding of the field, the influence of his mother’s views, and certain experiences that shaped his perspective. He urged people to watch the video completely and share their honest feedback, stressing that their guidance would be crucial in his decision-making process.

He further stated that if the public discourages him from entering politics, he would continue his social service efforts independently. On the other hand, if he receives strong encouragement, he is prepared to take the plunge and will later announce the details of his political journey, including the timing and possible association.

The development comes amid speculation about his potential participation in upcoming electoral contests. Lawrence had earlier hinted at announcing a major life decision, but delayed it as a mark of respect following the passing of veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja.

His cautious approach, placing public opinion at the centre of his decision, highlights a measured entry into the political space, should he choose to proceed.
