Bangkok, June 13:
Thailand’s Princess Bajrakitiyabha Dies After Three-Year Coma. Thailand’s Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati has died at the age of 47 after spending nearly four years in a coma following a severe heart condition, according to the royal household.
The princess, the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, collapsed in December 2022 while training dogs for a competition and was later hospitalised in Bangkok. Her condition steadily deteriorated over the years due to multiple complications, including infections and organ-related issues.
She was widely regarded as a potential heir to the Thai throne and was known for her work in law, diplomacy, and justice reform, including advocacy for women prisoners and service in Thailand’s attorney general’s office and diplomatic missions abroad.
The royal palace has announced that funeral rites will be held with full royal honours, and a national mourning period is expected in Thailand.
