In a significant political development in Tamil Nadu, former BJP leader and three-time MLA S. Vijayadharani has ended her association with the Bharatiya Janata Party and has joined Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the party founded by actor-turned-politician Vijay.

The move is being viewed as a major boost for TVK as it seeks to expand its political footprint across the state.

Vijayadharani, a prominent leader from Kanniyakumari district, joined the BJP in 2024 after resigning from the Congress party.

Her decision to leave the BJP after a relatively short stint has sparked speculation about shifting political equations ahead of future electoral battles in Tamil Nadu.

Political observers believe that her entry into TVK could strengthen the party’s presence in southern Tamil Nadu, particularly in Kanniyakumari district where she enjoys considerable influence.

TVK has already witnessed an influx of leaders from established political parties in recent months.

Sources indicate that Vijayadharani is likely to formally join TVK in the presence of party leadership.

Her experience as a legislator and her familiarity with grassroots politics are expected to be valuable assets for the party as it works to establish itself as a major political force in the state.

The development has triggered discussions across Tamil Nadu’s political spectrum, with analysts suggesting that TVK’s ability to attract leaders from rival parties reflects its growing influence.

More political realignments could follow as parties prepare for future elections.
