Chennai:

Minister for School Education, Tamil Development, Information, and Publicity A Rajmohan has assured that the renewal and recognition of private schools in Tamil Nadu will be granted strictly on the basis of merit, without any form of influence.

The Minister issued recognition letters to 848 private schools across the State during an official event held on Monday, marking a significant administrative step in the education sector.

Addressing the gathering, he announced that the online application process for renewal, No Objection Certificate (NOC), and recognition will commence from July 1. He explained that NOCs are issued to school managements for operating private institutions, while renewal certificates enable schools to upgrade their status.

Speaking to the media, Rajmohan noted that such an event for issuing renewal and NOC certificates was being conducted after nearly six years. He emphasized that the entire process has now been shifted to an online mode to ensure transparency and accountability. “Certificates will be issued purely on merit, eliminating influence based on political connections or monetary considerations,” he said.

The Minister further clarified that no political interference would be entertained in the process, including from members of the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) or any other party. He added that renewal and NOC approvals, which are typically carried out once every 12 years, will now follow a strictly merit-driven system through online applications.

Reiterating the government’s education stance, Rajmohan said the TVK government continues to oppose the National Education Policy (NEP), stating that it does not align with the values and principles of the people of Tamil Nadu.
