Chennai, June 20:
DMDK general secretary and MLA Premalatha Vijayakanth has expressed concern over what she described as excessive praise of individuals and political parties during the Tamil Nadu Assembly proceedings.
Speaking to reporters after the day’s session, she said the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address had deviated from its main subject. She noted that the Speaker had repeatedly urged members to stick to the agenda, but discussions had instead shifted to unrelated topics.
“It is disappointing to see more of individual and party praise dominating the House. This is a motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, and members should focus only on that,” she said.
Premalatha also said that the proceedings had become increasingly diverted from key issues and expressed concern over the direction of the debates in the Assembly, calling it “emotionally disturbing” and unproductive.
Her remarks come amid heated exchanges between ruling and opposition members during the ongoing Assembly session.
