Chennai, June 24:

Three people from Tamil Nadu were among the 12 Indians who lost their lives in a tragic gas plant explosion in Qatar. Chief Minister M.K. Vijay expressed deep grief over the incident and announced a solatium of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased.

In an official statement, the Chief Minister said the victims hailed from Tirunelveli district and were identified as Babith (26), Sujithkumar (25), and Kavin (24). He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and assured full support from the state government during this difficult time.

Vijay stated that necessary steps were being taken in coordination with the External Affairs Ministry and the Indian Embassy in Qatar to bring back the mortal remains of the victims to Tamil Nadu. He also directed Non-Resident Tamils Welfare Minister K. Thennarasu to expedite the process.

Additionally, the Chief Minister announced that a helpline would be set up to assist people seeking information related to the tragedy. The government reaffirmed its commitment to extend all possible help to the affected families.
