Manu revolves around a love story between two individuals from contrasting backgrounds. Sreeyuth, a young man from a modest family, falls in love with Reshma, the daughter of a wealthy household. However, their relationship faces strong opposition from her father, Vijay Selvam, a caste-conscious politician. Defying his resistance, the couple elopes and gets married, triggering intense anger. What Vijay Selvam does next, and how events unfold afterward, form the crux of the story.

Director Durga P.S presents a narrative that follows a familiar template often seen in films—young lovers battling societal and familial pressures. While the storyline may feel predictable, the film stands out in its attempt to portray the psychological burden and emotional consequences faced by those involved in honour-based violence. This aspect adds a layer of depth to an otherwise conventional plot.

In terms of performances, Sreeyuth puts in a sincere effort, doing his best to carry the role convincingly. Reshma effectively portrays both the romantic and emotional aspects of her character. Vijay Selvam, appearing as the authoritative and intimidating father figure, delivers a strong performance that adds weight to the narrative. The supporting cast also contributes adequately to the film.

On the technical front, the cinematography by Venus Moorthy and Mari Selvaraj, along with the music by Harsha Goghat, are average and do not significantly elevate the film. Overall, Manu remains a routine drama with a noteworthy emotional angle that may appeal to audiences who appreciate socially driven narratives.
