Chennai, July 14:
A worker was killed and four others sustained serious injuries after a boiler exploded at a factory in the SIPCOT industrial estate at Gummidipoondi in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvallur district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Ravi, a migrant worker from a northern state who was employed at the factory. The injured workers were rescued from the site and rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
According to officials, the accident occurred when a large boiler suddenly exploded while employees were working inside the unit. The blast triggered a fire that quickly spread across parts of the factory premises, causing panic among workers.
Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed to the spot and battled the flames for nearly an hour before bringing the situation under control. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion.
