The makers of Om: Chapter 1—Udhiram, starring Dhanush, have commenced the film’s final shooting schedule in Malaysia. The update comes shortly after the team announced the addition of Naseeruddin Shah to the cast, marking his return to Tamil cinema after a gap of 26 years since Hey Ram.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the film features a star-studded ensemble including Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela and Indrans. The project marks several notable collaborations, including Periasamy reuniting with Sai Pallavi after Amaran, and Dhanush sharing screen space with her again following Maari 2. It also signals Mammootty’s return to Tamil cinema after Peranbu (2018).
The latest schedule was revealed through a social media update by Dhanush’s manager Sreyas, who shared an image of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia, captioning it “#Om final schedule.” While the duration of the shoot remains undisclosed, reports suggest that Mammootty will be part of the schedule for a brief period, while Dhanush and Naseeruddin Shah will be present throughout.
Backed by Wunderbar Films, Dhanush’s home banner, in association with R Take Studios, the film boasts a strong technical team. Music is composed by Sai Abhyankkar, with cinematography by Ezhil Arasu and editing by Kalaivanan. Choreography is handled by Sandy, while action sequences are designed by Yannick Ben.
The makers have kept plot details under wraps. However, Om: Chapter 1—Udhiram is slated for a theatrical release on October 16, where it is expected to face a box-office clash with Jailer 2, scheduled to release a day earlier during the Navaratri festive window.
