Brussels, July 16:

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday held a series of high-level meetings in Brussels with European Union and Belgian leaders, focusing on expanding cooperation in trade, technology, innovation, connectivity, clean energy, semiconductors, maritime affairs and supply chain resilience.

Jaishankar co-chaired the inaugural India-Belgium Strategic Dialogue with Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot, during which the two sides reviewed cooperation across political, economic, investment, clean energy, defence, mobility and pharmaceutical sectors.

The discussions also centred on opportunities in ports, maritime cooperation, semiconductors and broader efforts to de-risk global supply chains. The two leaders exchanged views on regional and global developments, including the situation in West Asia.

ā€œCo-chaired with DPM and FM Maxime Prevot the inaugural India Belgium Strategic Dialogue in Brussels today. Our partnership has witnessed significant deepening in recent years. Today’s discussions reflected the ambition of India’s ties with Belgium, and the European Union,ā€ Jaishankar posted on X.

Speaking during the dialogue, Jaishankar said the evolving global environment called for deeper engage-ment between countries such as India and Belgium, highlighting opportunities to expand collaboration in clean energy, digital technologies, life sciences, chemicals, logistics and manufacturing.
