Chennai, July 22:
Indian Railways has confirmed that the discount offered on unreserved tickets booked through the RailOne app will continue, as part of its push to promote digital transactions.
Passengers booking unreserved tickets via the app using digital payment modes—including UPI, debit and credit cards, and net banking—will continue to receive a 3% discount on fares. In addition, the existing 3% cashback for R-Wallet users will remain in place.
The Railway Ministry said the initiative is aimed at encouraging commuters to shift towards cashless, digital ticketing while reducing dependence on physical transactions.
The RailOne app has increasingly become the primary platform for booking unreserved, suburban, and platform tickets, offering passengers a faster and more convenient alternative to counter-based purchases.
Officials said the continuation of the scheme reflects the Railways’ broader effort to modernise passenger services and improve ease of travel through digital solutions.
