Chennai, July 22:
M K Stalin on his return from a 16-day visit to London held detailed consultations with the party’s restructuring panel at Anna Arivalayam, as the committee prepares to submit its report in early August.
The high-level meeting with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leadership comes at a crucial time, with the party looking to revamp its organisational structure ahead of upcoming electoral challenges.
The 10-member panel, which includes senior leaders such as Thangam Thennarasu, Geetha Jeevan, Chakrapani and SS Sivasankar, briefed Stalin on the consultations conducted across the State.
Sources said the committee has engaged with leaders of various party wings and grassroots functionaries, while also reviewing inputs from district-level consultative committees. The report is expected to be finalised and submitted in the first week of August.
The restructuring exercise is likely to recommend a comprehensive overhaul of the party’s organisational framework, including changes to district units and internal wings, along with measures aimed at strengthening cadre mobilisation and streamlining party operations.
Party insiders view the rejig as a strategic step to consolidate the DMK’s base and improve coordination within the organisation as it gears up for the next round of elections.
