Chennai, July 25:
The monthly local pass fee for residents living near toll plazas in Tamil Nadu has been increased by ₹10, marking the third hike in the last four months. The revision applies to vehicle owners residing within a 20-km radius of toll gates who avail the concessional monthly pass facility.
Officials said the fee had already been raised by ₹10 in April and again by ₹10 in May. With the latest increase, the cumulative hike over the short period now stands at ₹30.
The monthly pass enables local residents to cross toll plazas multiple times at a reduced rate, a benefit widely used by daily commuters in suburban and rural areas.
Frequent users, however, have expressed concern over the repeated hikes in a short span, stating that the increases are adding to their travel costs.
