CJP Threatens To Restart Protest If Agitators Face Action

New Delhi, July 29:

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) warned the Centre that it would restart nationwide protests if cases against student agitators are not withdrawn, citing concerns over the Supreme Court’s order allowing police to continue FIR investigations.

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the top court’s direction — while protecting peaceful protesters from coercive action — could be “weaponised” by governments to target participants in the anti-paper leak protests. He argued this contradicts the Centre’s earlier assurance that no action would be taken against protesters.

The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, ordered that no coercive measures be taken against peaceful protesters and directed the release of those without criminal records. However, it permitted authorities to proceed with existing FIR investigations.

Calling this a breach of trust, the CJP said the government must honour its July 25 commitment to withdraw all cases. “If guarantees are dishonoured, protests will resume,” Das said, warning that youth across the country could return to the streets.
