Tehran, July 29:
Iran launched a surprise ballistic missile attack on a United States military base in Jordan on Tuesday, marking the first such strike since US President Donald Trump paused military operations against Tehran to allow diplomatic efforts.
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), multiple missiles were fired by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). However, all incoming missiles were successfully intercepted, and no casualties or damage were reported.
CENTCOM described the incident as an “attempted surprise attack” and said US forces remain on high alert amid fears of renewed escalation in the region. The strike comes just days after Washington halted offensive actions against Iran, signalling a shift towards negotiations.
