Chennai, July 30:
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Wednesday reviewed the progress of Chennai Metro Rail’s Phase I and Phase II projects, focusing on expansion, safety and operational readiness. He inspected key work sites, assessed passenger facilities and examined last-mile connectivity plans.
The Chief Minister travelled by Metro from Government Estate to Nandanam, interacted with commuters and later reviewed operations at the control centre. He also inspected the 101-foot Kathipara elevated bridge under construction and visited the Porur Bypass station.
Vijay undertook a trial run of the driverless Metro train between Porur Bypass and Poonamallee Bypass, reviewing readiness ahead of launch. Officials said the review covered ongoing works, future expansion and improving commuter access across the network.
