New Delhi, July 31:
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the police crackdown on students during the July 20 “Sansad Chalo” protest in Delhi.
Addressing reporters, Dipke alleged that the order to use force against protesting students “must have come” from Shah, echoing a similar demand made earlier by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. He claimed that democracy in India was under threat and raised concerns about institutions, including the judiciary.
Dipke, who led a month-long protest at Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak, also criticised the appointment of Pralhad Joshi as Education Minister, using strong remarks against the government’s handling of student issues. He defended the protests as constitutional and rejected criticism from yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who had questioned Gen Z’s role in the agitation.
The activist further alleged misconduct by Delhi Police, claiming trucks with stones were brought near the protest site to falsely implicate students in violence—an allegation not independently verified. He also said the CJP would extend support to farmers’ protests if needed, stressing broader public participation to “save democracy.”
