Chennai, Aug 7:
The Madras High Court has granted bail to one more accused in the alleged “horse-trading” case, ensuring that all 14 arrested persons have now secured bail.
The case relates to allegations that a deal was attempted with T. V. Ilayaraja, an MLA from Uthangarai constituency. Based on a complaint, Triplicane police had arrested 14 individuals in connection with the issue.
While former minister V. Senthil Balaji and his brother Ashok Kumar had already secured anticipatory bail, 13 of the arrested accused were earlier granted bail. With the latest order by Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan granting bail to Krishnan, all those arrested in the case are now out on bail.
The High Court has also stayed further investigation by Triplicane police in the case. Additionally, the court adjourned the anticipatory bail plea of Karthikeyaraja to September 1, directing that no coercive action be taken against him until then.
In a related relief, the court also relaxed bail conditions imposed earlier on two accused, Sethuraj and Rajasekar, providing further ease in compliance.
