Chennai, Aug 7:
Railway police have launched a major investigation after a decomposed, dismembered male body was found inside a suitcase on board the Tamil Nadu Express.
The shocking discovery was made at Agra Cantonment Railway Station, where cleaning staff noticed a foul smell coming from an unattended red suitcase in a general coach. Upon opening it, police found the body cut into pieces and packed inside.
Preliminary findings suggest that the suitcase was loaded onto the train in Chennai Central Railway Station two days earlier. CCTV footage reportedly shows a man and a woman arriving at the station with the suitcase, placing it inside the coach, and later leaving the premises separately.
Investigators also found that the body parts were wrapped in a carry bag from a well-known textile store in Chennai, along with some bills, which are now being used as key evidence to identify the victim.
Based on inputs from Agra Railway Police, Chennai Central Railway Police have begun analysing CCTV footage and tracking leads to identify the suspects and establish the motive behind the murder.
Authorities are working to determine the identity of the deceased, the circumstances leading to the killing, and the individuals involved in transporting the body. The investigation is ongoing.
