Tiruvallur, Aug 7:
A history-sheeter wanted in a murder case was allegedly abducted and hacked to death near Vengal in Tiruvallur district on Thursday night. The prime suspect, identified as Andhra Pradesh-based rowdy Nataraj, later surrendered before the police.
The deceased, Suryah, was absconding after being named as one of the accused in the murder of Satheesh, a 38-year-old history-sheeter and real estate businessman from Manikandapuram near Pothur. Police said Suryah had been on the run since the earlier murder.
According to investigators, Nataraj allegedly travelled from Andhra Pradesh to Avadi, abducted Suryah and took him to a secluded location near Vengal, where he was attacked with deadly weapons and killed.
Police said Nataraj later surrendered and is currently being questioned. Authorities are probing the motive behind the murder and examining whether more were involved in the crime.
Satheesh was earlier hacked to death by an armed gang near Manikandapuram while returning home. In that case, police had arrested one suspect and were searching for others, including Suryah, whose death now adds a new dimension to the investigation.
