Chennai, Aug 7:
The Tamil Nadu government has launched the ‘My Home’ (Maa Veedu) housing scheme to provide affordable and quality homes for low-income families in Chennai.
Announced in the 2026–27 Budget, the scheme aims to construct one lakh houses over the next seven years across the Chennai Metropolitan Area, addressing the growing demand for affordable urban housing.
The project, to be implemented under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, is expected to attract investments of ₹15,000 crore, with the State contributing ₹3,500 crore through an equity fund to support execution.
The initiative is designed to offer modern housing with essential amenities, improve living standards and promote planned urban development, while also generating employment in the construction sector.
