Chennai, Aug 12:
Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar on Tuesday said the House could be convened in the evening if required, but the current session was being conducted in a single sitting as evening sessions could cause inconvenience to some members.
Speaking during the ongoing debate on the 2026-27 General and Agriculture Budgets, the Speaker said the decision had been taken to conduct the proceedings in a single sitting.
He also announced that from Monday, each MLA would be given only 10 minutes to speak. Members exceeding the allotted time would be asked to conclude as the next speaker would be called, he said, urging members not to take offence.
Earlier, the Assembly unanimously adopted a government resolution seeking the scrapping of the NEET examination, after BJP MLAs staged a walkout opposing the resolution.
