Chennai, Aug 12:
The Tamil Nadu government has allocated ₹828.36 crore for the MLA Constituency Development Scheme for the 2026-27 financial year, with ₹3.54 crore earmarked for each of the State’s 234 Assembly constituencies.
An order issued by the government said the funds would help meet urgent public needs and expedite development works in the constituencies.
The allocation can be used for works including basic infrastructure in schools, healthcare facilities, drinking water projects, constituency-level infrastructure and construction or improvement of public buildings.
The government will also bear the 18% GST applicable to works undertaken under the scheme, as was announced during the previous DMK regime.
The funds are expected to facilitate the speedy implementation of development projects identified as priorities in individual constituencies.
