Chennai, Aug 14:
Two workers were killed in an explosion at a private cracker manufacturing unit at Namaskarithanpatti village near Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu on Thursday afternoon, even as Chief Minister Vijay condoled their deaths and announced a solatium of Rs four lakh each to their families..
The incident occurred at Krishna Cracker manufacturing unit, which was operating with proper license, when the workers were engaged in handling/mixing chemicals for making crackers when a fire broke out due to friction, resulting in the explosion.
Police and fire service and rescue department personnel rushed to the spot shifted the bodies to the Government hospital for post mortem.
Meanwhile, an official release said the deceased were identified as Balamurugan (41), who succumbed at the Sivakasi Government hospital ad Ahmed Ibrahim (66), who died on the way while being referred to Virudhunagar Government Medical College hospital.
Expressing deep anguish and grief over their deaths, Vijay offered his deepest condolences and announced a solatium of Rs four lakh to their families from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
