India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan 5-3 in a thrilling FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup Pool D clash to seal a place in the second round.
Captain Harmanpreet Singh and Abhishek scored two goals each, while Hardik Singh added another as India built a 5-2 lead before Pakistan mounted a late fightback.
Hannan Shahid scored twice and Sufyan Khan added one for Pakistan, but India held firm despite being reduced to 10 players late in the match.
The victory helped India finish second in Pool D with six points and advance to the next stage, while Pakistan were eliminated.
