Ganderbal, Aug 24:
Khyber Aquaculture, in partnership with the Jammu & Kashmir Department of Fisheries, has launched a specialised training programme to modernise trout farming under the Trout Cluster Programme of the Holistic Agriculture Development Plan.
Progressive farmers from Ganderbal, Bandipora and Srinagar were trained in sustainable aquaculture, biosecurity, water-quality management, early disease detection and Recirculating Aquaculture Systems. The programme focused on preventive fish health practices to improve survival rates, growth and farm efficiency.
Khyber Aquaculture CMD Umar Tramboo said capacity building was crucial to creating a resilient cold-water aquaculture sector that could strengthen livelihoods, food security and rural enterprise in Jammu & Kashmir.
The initiative aims to boost trout productivity and develop the region as a hub for sustainable cold-water fisheries.
