Beijing, Aug 26:
China has warned the United States against interfering in its relations with Iran, as Washington continues to impose sanctions linked to Tehran.
The warning came amid growing tensions surrounding Iran and the wider West Asian geopolitical situation.
China said its relations with Iran were based on normal cooperation between sovereign countries and should not be subject to external interference.
Beijing’s position comes as the United States increases pressure on Iran through sanctions and other measures, while China continues to maintain diplomatic and economic ties with Tehran.
Chinese officials have consistently opposed unilateral sanctions and stressed the importance of resolving international disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.
The latest warning is likely to further highlight the differences between Washington and Beijing over how Iran and broader West Asian issues should be handled.
