Chennai, Aug. 27:
Tamil Nadu Health Minister Arun Raj on Thursday announced that the government would conduct inspections at hospitals across all districts to assess their infrastructure, equipment and requirements and take necessary steps to address deficiencies.

The announcement was made in the Assembly during the ongoing Budget Session, where ministers responded to questions raised by legislators on healthcare and infrastructure. The Assembly had a day’s holiday on Wednesday on account of Milad-un-Nabi and resumed proceedings on Thursday.

Responding to a question from PMK MLA Ganesh Kumar, the Health Minister was asked whether additional modern equipment, including a CT scanner, would be provided to the Gingee Government Hospital.

Arun Raj said the hospital would be inspected and additional equipment would be provided if found necessary. He said the government was committed to assessing the requirements of government hospitals and strengthening facilities based on local needs.

The issue of dialysis facilities at the Gummidipoondi Government Hospital was also raised in the Assembly.

MLA Vijayakumar sought additional dialysis equipment for the hospital. Responding to the demand, Arun Raj said an inspection would be conducted at the hospital and steps would be taken to provide additional dialysis equipment if required.

The Minister subsequently said that, following the Assembly proceedings, inspections would be carried out at government hospitals across all districts. The exercise would help identify infrastructure and equipment requirements and enable the government to take appropriate action, he said.
