Chennai, Aug 28:
The Tamil Nadu government has invited e-tenders to procure 5.32 lakh modern bicycles, along with helmets and water bottles, for Class 11 students across the State during the 2026-27 academic year.
As part of the scheme, 2,37,133 boys and 2,95,255 girls will receive the free bicycles and accessories.
Eligible manufacturers can submit bids through the Tamil Nadu government’s e-tender portal from August 29 to September 28, 2026, by 3 pm. The tender meeting will be held on September 8 at the Ezhilagam campus in Chepauk, Chennai.
The selected bidder will have to submit sample bicycles for one boy and one girl by 5 pm on September 28. Technical bids will be opened online on September 29 at 11.30 am.
The bicycles and accompanying equipment must be fully supplied within 150 days of receiving the purchase order, according to the tender conditions.
