Chennai, Aug 28:

The Madras High Court has directed DMK candidates and voters who filed election petitions challenging the victories of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and Minister Aadhav Arjuna to respond to pleas seeking dismissal of the cases.

DMK candidate R.T. Sekar and voters Dinesh and Lakshmi Narasimman had challenged Vijay’s election from the Perambur constituency. Similarly, DMK candidate Karthik Mohan and voter Sivaraj had filed petitions challenging Aadhav Arjuna’s victory from Villivakkam.

Seeking dismissal of the election petitions, Vijay and Aadhav Arjuna subsequently moved the High Court.

Hearing the pleas, Justice V. Lakshminarayanan directed the DMK candidates and voters who had filed the election petitions to submit their responses. The judge adjourned the matter to September 3 for further hearing.
