Tamil Nadu Minority Welfare Minister A M Shahjahan said the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) would continue its alliance with the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) for local body elections, by-elections and the 2029 Lok Sabha polls. He said the IUML state general council had passed a resolution reaffirming its commitment to the Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance. Shahjahan also said the government was examining options to protect the interests of BC Muslims in the matter of reservation, following recent court observations.
