Chennai, Auug 31:
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) chief executive Kasi Viswanathan has dismissed reports that former captain MS Dhoni had sought an ownership stake in the IPL franchise, calling the speculation unfounded.
Reports had suggested that Dhoni was interested in acquiring a stake in CSK, triggering speculation over his future association with the franchise. Viswanathan, however, said there was no such request from the former India captain.
The clarification comes amid growing curiosity over Dhoni’s role in CSK and whether he will continue playing in the IPL. Dhoni has been an integral part of the franchise since the league’s early years and led CSK to multiple titles.
With preparations for IPL 2027 eventually expected to gather pace, questions over Dhoni’s playing future are likely to continue. For now, however, CSK has sought to put the ownership speculation to rest.
