The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has instructed players involved in the ongoing Test series against England not to comment publicly on former Pakistan Prime Minister and cricket icon Imran Khan, amid renewed attention to his political and legal situation.
The directive reportedly came after questions surrounding Imran, who remains a hugely influential figure in Pakistan despite being in prison. The PCB wants the players to remain focused on cricket and avoid making political statements during the England series.
The development has attracted attention because of Imran’s stature in Pakistani cricket. He led Pakistan to its only ODI World Cup triumph in 1992 before entering politics and later serving as the country’s prime minister.
