Chennai, Sept 2:
Actress Mamitha Baiju has been hospitalised after suffering from high fever and severe body pain, forcing her to cancel her scheduled visit to Australia this week.

Mamitha was expected to attend the Clyde Onam 2026 celebrations in Australia as the chief guest on September 5. Following her hospitalisation, organisers have postponed the event and said a new date would be announced later.

In a video message shared by the organisers, Mamitha said she was undergoing treatment and that doctors had advised her to take complete rest. She also cited body pain, allergies and asthma-related difficulties as reasons why she could not undertake the journey.

Expressing disappointment over missing the event, the actress apologised to the organisers and members of the Malayali community. She said she hoped to visit Australia and meet them on another occasion.

Mamitha is currently receiving attention for her performance in Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, which is enjoying a successful theatrical run. She has also appeared in recent Tamil films, including Jana Nayagan and Vishwanath & Sons.
