Chennai, Sept 4:
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has announced financial assistance for the families of two workers who died in explosions at two private explosives manufacturing units in Virudhunagar district.
The explosions occurred on Thursday at private explosives factories operating in Anuppankulam village in Sivakasi taluk and Viluppanur village in Srivilliputhur taluk.
The two deceased workers were identified as Eswaran, 56, of Kunnur in Vathirayiruppu taluk, and Sakthivel, 55, of Ceylon Colony in Sivakasi.
Expressing grief over the deaths, the Chief Minister announced Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
He also announced Rs 1 lakh for a worker who suffered serious injuries and Rs 50,000 each for five persons who sustained minor injuries.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that those undergoing treatment receive appropriate medical care.
