Chennai, Sept 7:
Former Tamil Nadu minister K N Nehru and his brother are likely to be questioned soon by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) in connection with an alleged Rs 1,020-crore tender irregularity in the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, according to police sources.
DVAC officials recently conducted searches at Nehru’s residence and around 30 locations linked to him in connection with the case.
According to the anti-corruption agency, 241 documents and electronic pieces of evidence relating to alleged irregularities in the tender process were seized during the searches.
Officials are now examining the seized material as part of the continuing investigation. Based on the findings, summons are expected to be issued to Nehru, his brother and others for questioning, according to reports citing police sources.
The investigation relates to alleged irregularities in tenders issued by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department.
Nehru has categorically denied the allegations against him. No conclusion has been reached against him, and the investigation is continuing.
The proposed questioning is expected to focus on the documents and electronic evidence seized during the searches and the role, if any, of individuals named during the investigation.
