Beirut,Sep 7:
At least four people, including two women, were killed and 20 others injured in a fresh wave of Israeli strikes across southern Lebanon on Sunday, further straining a US-backed ceasefire.
The strikes hit several locations in the Nabatieh region, including Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Arab Salim, Kfar Rumman and other areas. Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported four deaths and multiple injuries, including among women and children. Buildings and public infrastructure were also damaged, including an unused hospital and a regional Finance Ministry office.
Israel said the strikes were carried out in response to Hezbollah drone attacks targeting its soldiers and claimed to have targeted Hezbollah weapons facilities. Lebanese authorities condemned the attacks, with President Joseph Aoun warning of a dangerous escalation and urging Washington and the international community to intervene. The strikes come despite a ceasefire agreement reached with US backing earlier this year.
