Vikkals of Vikram is the first and most personal stand-up show of comedian Vikram Arul Vidyapathi, who has now brought the Tamil comedy special to YouTube, drawing from his experiences of growing up in a Tamil middle-class family.
The comedian turns stories from his childhood, college years, love, relationships and marriage into humour while examining beliefs surrounding family, society and relationships.
The show touches on subjects often discussed privately but rarely in the open, including family expectations, cinema, sex education, marriage, caste and feminism. Vikram, however, says the intention is not to preach or decide what is right or wrong, but to look back at how his understanding of these subjects has changed over the years.
“Vikkals of Vikram” has previously toured across India and abroad and established Vikram as one of the prominent Tamil stand-up comedians.
Vikram is now set to begin his next stand-up show, “Onnu Sollanum”, with its first performance at The Music Academy in Chennai on September 27, followed by an international tour.
