Superstar Rajinikanth has watched Soori-starrer Mandaadi and personally called the actor to appreciate the film, giving the film’s team another reason to celebrate.
Soori revealed the interaction in a post on X, saying Rajinikanth had watched and loved Mandaadi. He described the superstar’s heartfelt call as a priceless moment and said Rajinikanth’s words of appreciation were a blessing for him and the entire team.
The film, which opened in theatres on September 10, has attracted attention for its sailing boat-racing sequences and the performances of its lead actors. Soori plays Mandaadi, the leader of a fishing expedition team, in the sea-based action drama.
Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, the film is centred on a sailing boat race practised along a stretch of Tamil Nadu’s coastline. The production was particularly challenging, with the team spending around two months shooting at sea. A production boat also capsized during filming, resulting in the loss of equipment and further delays.
Mandaadi stars Suhas, Mahima Nambiar, Sathyaraj, Mithun Jai Sankar, Ravindra Vijay, Bala Saravanan and Stun Siva alongside Soori. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music, while SR Kathir is the cinematographer and Pradeep E Ragav is the editor. Peter Hein, Dhilip Subbarayan and Mahesh Mathew have choreographed the action sequences.
