Vemal and Shriya Saran-starrer Sandakari, which has been awaiting release for nearly six years, will finally hit theatres on September 18. The makers announced the release date on Monday on the occasion of Vinayaka Chaturthi.
Directed by R Madhesh, the film was initially scheduled for release in 2020. It is a remake of the 2012 Malayalam film My Boss, which starred Dileep and Mamta Mohandas. Madhesh had earlier said that changes were made to the original screenplay to suit Tamil sensibilities.
Sandakari is billed as a full-length comedy and also features Prabhu and Sathyan in important roles. The film was shot across several international locations, including New York, Venice and London, apart from Goa and Kochi in India.
Amresh has composed the music, while RB Gurudhev has handled the cinematography and Dinesh is the editor. Punnagai Poo Geetha has produced the film.
