Director Jason Sanjay thanked his mother Sangeetha, father and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, and sister Divya Saasha for their support during the trailer and audio launch of his directorial debut Sigma.
Addressing the event, Jason said, “I would like to thank my mother. I would like to thank my father, who is the Chief Minister today. And I would like to thank my dear sister Divya.” He also thanked his uncle Sanjeev, recalling that he immediately supported his decision when Jason approached him after completing college with the intention of becoming a filmmaker.
Jason said Sanjeev was someone he trusted greatly and acknowledged the wider family support behind his journey into cinema. He has earlier spoken about wanting to establish an identity of his own rather than having his debut defined only by his father’s identity.
The young filmmaker also thanked several people associated with Sigma. He acknowledged director SS Rajamouli for watching the trailer, discussing the film with him and supporting its Telugu promotions. He also thanked actor Dulquer Salmaan for launching the film’s first single and actor Soori, whose career journey he described as an inspiration.
Jason praised lead actor Sundeep Kishan, calling him a special, brother-like figure, and appreciated Faria Abdullah and the rest of the cast and crew. He also thanked editor Praveen KL, cinematographer Krishnan Vasant, art director Benjamin M and stunt choreographers Venkat and Silva for their contributions to the film.
Sigma is Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut and stars Sundeep Kishan in the lead along with Faria Abdullah, Sampath Raj, Raju Sundaram, Shiv Panditt, Sheela Rajkumar and others. The film is produced by Lyca Productions, with Thaman S composing the music, Krishnan Vasant handling cinematography and Praveen KL editing.
The film’s trailer has indicated a story involving gambling, drugs and a high-stakes heist. Sundeep Kishan plays a radio host who plans a heist targeting underworld figure Kotlapadi Veeraiya Reddy, played by Sampath Raj. Sigma is scheduled for release in Tamil and Telugu on October 2.
