An Indo-Russian film titled SMASH, centred on the journey of a badminton player who attempts to rebuild his career after a major defeat, is currently being made as a joint production between India and Russia.
The film is being produced by India-based White Nights Entertainment and Russia’s Smena Film Company LLC. White Nights Entertainment, which produced the Tamil film Demonte Colony 2 and is also involved in film distribution in India and Russia, has joined hands with the Russian company for the project.
SMASH revolves around a badminton player who faces defeat but refuses to give up. The story follows his journey as he attempts to regain his confidence and move towards success through determination, perseverance and hard work.
The film is expected to combine sports, emotions and personal struggle while focusing on the spirit of never giving up. The makers have said the story is designed to offer audiences a fresh cinematic experience.
The film is jointly produced by White Nights Entertainment’s Vijay Subramanian and Kasi Viswanathan and Smena Film Company LLC producer Ekaterina Golubeva.
The shooting is currently under way in Delhi. The teaser of SMASH was recently unveiled at a special event held at Russian House in New Delhi, where Russian Cultural Minister Svetlana Chupsheva attended as the special guest and conveyed her wishes to the team.
The project is also being positioned as an Indo-Russian cultural collaboration, with the makers expecting cinema to contribute to stronger artistic and cultural ties between the two countries. Details regarding the director, cast and release date are expected to be announced officially soon.
