Allu Arjun-starrer Raaka, directed by Atlee, and produced by Sun Pictures’ Kalanithi Maran, has entered the Guinness World Records for the “Most People Motion-Captured in Real-Time”, marking a major technological achievement for Indian cinema.
The record was created in February 2026, when 37 performers were motion-captured simultaneously in real time during a single session. The performers, ranging in age from four to 70, were captured within one volume while preserving the individual performances of all 37 participants.
The achievement was officially certified on September 15, with the Guinness World Records certificate presented to Allu Arjun and Atlee by senior adjudicator Swapnil Dangrikar at a ceremony attended by key members of the film’s cast and crew.
The record-breaking exercise involved 92 optical motion-capture cameras and a specialised technical ecosystem integrating capture, calibration, networking, synchronisation, real-time Unreal visualisation, witness cameras and facial capture. The film’s VFX producer developed a customised motion-capture pipeline to meet the scale and technical requirements of Raaka.
Allu Arjun described the achievement as a proud moment for the entire team, while Atlee said the recognition felt “surreal” and credited the team for turning an ambitious idea into reality. The achievement brings together Sun Pictures’ production scale, Atlee’s direction, Allu Arjun’s performance, Apple Art Studio’s technical expertise and the film’s VFX and technology teams, showcasing Indian creative and technical talent on a global platform.
