Srirangam, Sept 24:
Srirangam DMK secretary Ramkumar has approached the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with an alleged temple land fraud case.
When the petition came up before Justice Murali Shankar, the government counsel sought time for the State Public Prosecutor to appear in the matter. Meanwhile, the Joint Commissioner of the temple filed an intervention petition opposing the anticipatory bail plea.
The court permitted the Joint Commissioner to file the intervention petition and adjourned the hearing to September 25.
The case pertains to allegations of fraud involving land belonging to the Srirangam temple.
