Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan is set to make his directorial debut with his 50th film, in a new collaboration between Panorama Studios and his production banner Unni Mukundan Films (UMF). The project will be produced by National Award-winning producers Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak, with Unni Mukundan headlining the film as its writer and director.
The high-octane Malayalam project marks the first collaboration between Panorama Studios and UMF. Panorama Studios has backed films including Omkara, Special 26, Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Raid, Shaitaan and the Drishyam franchise. Unni Mukundan, meanwhile, has established a pan-Indian presence following the success of Marco, while UMF’s Meppadiyan won a National Award. The new film is planned with pan-Indian ambitions.
Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak said they were excited to collaborate with Unni and praised his conviction in choosing different kinds of roles and films. Unni Mukundan said his 50th film was a special milestone and that he had always wanted to tell stories in his own voice. He expressed hope that the film would connect with audiences across languages and regions. Details of the title, additional cast and shooting schedule will be announced later.
