Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended his government’s military actions in the Middle East during his address to the United Nations General Assembly, while dozens of delegates walked out as he began speaking.
Netanyahu used his speech to defend Israel’s actions and criticised opponents of the country. The walkout reflected the continuing divisions among UN member states over Israel’s military operations and its wider regional policies.
His visit to New York came amid heightened international attention on the conflicts involving Israel, Iran and Hamas. The Israeli Prime Minister’s shortened visit also took place against a backdrop of protests and heightened security concerns.
